STARKVILLE — Mississippi State men’s basketball player Xavian Stapleton has suffered another knee injury.
First reported by CBS Sports, a source confirmed that rising sophomore Stapleton tore his anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee March 20 and had surgery Wednesday. He is expected to be back for Southeastern Conference play in January.
The Flora native tore his ACL and meniscus in his left knee last August. The injury kept him from practicing with the Bulldogs. Stapleton, a Louisiana Tech transfer, had to sit out the 2015-16 season due to NCAA rules, but he was permitted to practice with the team. The former Madison Central standout has three years of eligibility remaining.
The 6-foot-6 guard averaged 6.7 points and 2.1 rebounds as a freshman at Louisiana Tech.
