One day after leading the Mississippi State football team to a 34-29 victory against then-No. 8 LSU in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, MSU quarterback Dak Prescott was named Athlon’s National Player of the Week.
Prescott had 373 yards and three touchdowns in the win at Tiger Stadium, including a 56-yard touchdown run and a 74-yard touchdown pass to wideout Jameon Lewis in the third quarter.
It was Prescott’s nation-leading third-straight game with 200 yards passing and 100 yards rushing. For the season, the Haughton, Louisiana, native is third nationally in points responsible for (90), eighth in passing touchdowns (11), and first in 100-yard rushing games by a quarterback (three).
The award is Prescott’s second national nod of the year. He was named a Manning Award Star of the Week for his performance against Alabama-Birmingham.
