OXFORD — The University of Mississippi football team will open its first spring drills with coach Hugh Freeze this weekend, and fans are welcome to attend the first two practices.
Four practices will be open to the public, including at 3:30 p.m. Friday and at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Both workouts are tentatively planned for the practice fields. Other open practices are set for March 31 and April 14.
Use of cellular phones and cameras are prohibited for fans at practice, and fans must remain in the designated area. When the team practices outdoors, fans are not allowed between the practice fields.
OleMissSports.com will publish daily spring practice reports, with video highlights from each Rebel workout. Spring football coverage will begin with Freeze’s pre-spring press conference at 2 p.m. Thursday live on RebelVision.
Ole Miss’ spring drills will culminate with the annual BancorpSouth Grove Bowl at 1 p.m. April 21 at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. CSS will televise the intra-squad scrimmage live.
Other events of Grove Bowl Week are the Rebels’ Choice Awards on April 16; the Chucky Mullins Award Banquet on April 19; a free concert in The Grove with Gavin DeGraw and special guest Craig Morgan on April 20 and a weekend baseball series against the University of Arkansas.
Among the special guests on campus for Grove Bowl Week will be Ole Miss great Eli Manning, who will take part in several events including an NFL Panel Discussion with other former Rebels Saturday morning on the Grove Stage.
Additional events of Grove Bowl Week include a Rebel softball doubleheader against the University of Kentucky on April 18 and the SEC women’s tennis tournament April 19-22 at the Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center/Galtney Courts.
