The Starkville Academy girls basketball team stayed alive, while the Oak Hill Academy girls basketball team’s season ended Wednesday night in state tournament action in the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools.
Anna Prestridge had 15 points, six steals, and three assists Wednesday afternoon to lead Starkville Academy to a 62-37 victory against Presbyterian Christian in the Class AAA state tournament at East Rankin Academy.
Starkville Academy (32-5) will play Jackson Academy at 1 p.m. Friday in the semifinals. The winner of that game will advance to the title game Saturday. The loser will play an elimination game Saturday. The top three teams advance to the overall state tournament next week.
Anna Lea Little had 14 points and six rebounds, Sallie Kate Richardson had 12 points and seven rebounds, Nora Kathryn Carroll had seven points, Tiffany Huddleston had six points, and April Burney had four assists.
Tori Ellis had 16 points, but Oak Hill Academy lost to Simpson Academy 54-37 in the Class AA state tournament at Kirk Academy.
Oak Hill Academy trailed 22-21 at halftime. Simpson Academy closed the game with a 20-10 fourth quarter.
