Austin Braddock didn”t end his high school career with the state championship he wanted, as Heritage Academy fell one game short of reaching the state finals in the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools.
But Braddock made sure he ended it with a win.
Playing in a MAIS All-Star game Friday in Jackson, Braddock, a power-hitting infielder and right-hander, went 3-for-5 and was the winning pitcher in a 18-14 North All-Stars win against the South All-Stars. He had two doubles and a single in a matchup of the state”s best players.
“I hit it pretty hard, so they really didn”t have time to go get it, I guess,” Braddock said. “I guess I hit it in a good spot.”
Also playing in the All-Star game was teammate Tyler Farnham.
Braddock will play next week for his Birmingham-based travel squad and continue to prepare for the fall at East Mississippi Community College.
