Columbus police are searching for a suspect who allegedly attacked a driver who gave him a ride on Thursday.
The attack occurred about 7 p.m., according to a Columbus Police Department press release. The victim, also male, was leaving The Princess Theatre on Fifth Street South and was approached by an unknown black male who asked for a ride to the Columbus Walmart.
The victim agreed and the two began traveling toward Walmart.
Near the soccer complex, the passenger began to hit the victim as he was driving, the press release said. The victim stopped the car and began to fight back, and the suspect got out of the car and fled on foot after a struggle.
Investigators have surveillance cameras from the areas which they are currently examining to identify the suspect, the press release said.
