The sentencing for a Columbus woman who pleaded guilty to health care fraud earlier this year has been postponed.
Robin Gary Lowry, 49, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy and three counts of health care fraud in federal court in June. Her sentencing hearing, which was initially set for Nov. 7, has been continued to Jan. 30 at 9 a.m. in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
The former employee of both Global Compounding Pharmacy and a Columbus-based medical clinic owned by her ex-husband, Dr. Slater Lowry, Robin Lowry allegedly used her position at the clinic to write unnecessary prescriptions — sometimes by forging signatures — for Global’s pain relief medications and other products. She then submitted the fraudulent claims to Blue Cross Blue Shield.
Robin Lowry is out of custody on $5,000 bond. The maximum penalty for health care fraud is 10 years in prison.
According to Dr. Slater Lowry’s lawyer, Carrie Jourdan, he and Robin divorced and she was removed from the medical practice prior to charges being brought.
