A week after a shooting at Sim Scott Park that left four people injured, Columbus police still have not arrested any suspects.
Columbus Police Department Capt. Brent Swan said Thursday that two of the four shooting victims have been released from Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle. Police said all four had been admitted with non life-threatening injuries.
Swan did not comment on whether CPD had identified suspects in the shooting. He would not release names or ages for the victims, either.
Police responded to the Sim Scott Park shooting on the afternoon of March 20. A congested scene along 21st Street North included police and ambulance personnel, as well as several frightened and concerned citizens.
In response to last Friday’s violent encounter, city officials are taking action, stepping up foot patrols in high crime areas — including Sim Scott Park — restricting operating hours for the park and scheduling three town hall meetings to hear citizen concerns and share the city’s “proactive” plan for curbing crime.
The first of the three meetings will be Monday at Sim Scott Park, followed by an April 6 meeting at East Columbus Gymnasium and an April 20 meeting at Townsend Community Center. All three meetings will begin at 6 p.m.
