Confused and disappointed
First, I am disappointed. Let me understand, Mr. Plair is blaming the sexual transmitted disease on us prudish Christians that don’t believe in sexual education. I didn’t think the public school were forbidden from teaching sex education by the church going folk. More kids know more about sex today at 13-14 than I did at 18, due to the TV, movies and internet, but maybe I lived a sheltered life. I think we need to just take responsibility, set a good example for your kids and be a good mentor. It’s not the churches or being from the south that created the problem. It is a moral problem. Education will help, but adults need to set the example for our youth. Get involved, but to blame being a Christian for our moral decay is just wrong. Enough for being disappointed.
I am confused about the city getting a “Thorn” for the ban on Kratom. The committee that brought this to the city councils attention did our due diligence and research to the effects that Kratom has. Information from the local DEA officers, law enforcement, rehabilitation workers, medical professionals and individuals that have had been effected by Kratom. You are giving the city a bad rap for the ban and have caved to the strong lobbying of the “American Kratom Association.” Shame on you. As a member of the “Drug Addition Task Force,” I have received phone calls, due to my cell number being released, messages from out of the area people about the benefits of Kratom. If you listen to them all is well. Tell that to the parents that lost a child to an overdose of the substance, a spouse or one the was addicted. The county wants a hearing, which is OK. The city did the right thing in removing it. We owe it to the kids and the ones additive to it, to remove it. In my opinion you owe the city and the committee an apology. Being projected as the bad guy might stop some from getting involved. Public involvement is needed. Discouragement is not.
God bless Columbus and America.
