Authorities have released surveillance videos of two of the three suspects accused in an armed robbery outside The Princess Theater last week.
The robbery occurred shortly before 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday when the suspects began approaching people in cars and patrons sitting in an outdoor patio portion of the downtown restaurant. An off-duty Columbus police officer who was near the entrance saw the robbery and exchanged gunfire with one of the suspects.
Columbus Police Chief Fred Shelton said investigators released the surveillance photos so the public could help identify the suspects.
One of the suspects is a black male dressed in all black, with a bright orange or red bandana over his face and white tennis shoes. The second suspect is a black male in a blue sports jersey and black pants with long white stripes down the sides. He also had a bandana covering his face.
Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is investigating the officer-involved shooting, while Columbus Police Department investigates the robbery. CPD is asking anyone who recognizes the suspects or with information on the crime to call the Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at 1-800-530-7151.
