Postscript
This is a postscript to George Hazard’s letter about Randolph Lipscomb printed on March 29.
I was secretary to Hunter M. Gholson for almost 25 years and filled in as Randolph’s secretary temporarily after that. So I was involved in the 16th-Section litigation from the beginning to the end.
Here are three things I would like the city, businesses and citizens to be aware of about Randolph Lipscomb:
1. Randolph was a very smart lawyer.
2. He got Luther Munford involved (in our 16th Section lawsuit) — one of the state’s best lawyers on constitutional law.
3. Last, but certainly not least, Randolph literally had to “beg” for attorney’s fees from the city, businesses and citizens to defend the case, while the state (the taxpayers) willingly paid outside lawyers (not employed by the state) to prosecute the case.
Look what Randolph and Luther were paid by comparison. Check it out.
I like to see credit given where credit is due.
