National Day of Prayer
The members of the Christian Community in Prayer who sponsor the local observance of the National Day of Prayer are sincerely thankful for the community’s response to this year’s event. We are particularly appreciative for the local pastors and lay leaders who led prayers and music, for children and youth who attended with banners and signs, and for the ROTC honor guard from West Lowndes High School who performed the flag raising and national anthem. For those whose work was equally valuable but less visible – those who drove vans, advertised the event, managed traffic, set up chairs – we recognize your vital contributions. Our appreciation also is extended to the Commercial Dispatch for the articles and information published concerning the National Day of Prayer. And finally and most importantly we are especially grateful for those five hundred or so of you who attended and prayed with us. Your participation is a living demonstration of your love for our nation and community and your understanding of our dependence on God for its continued safety and prosperity. It is unbelievably satisfying to see Christians from throughout Columbus and Lowndes County come together in the common goal of petitioning God on behalf of our nation. We urge you to continue in prayer for our country and its leaders.
