Kudos for professor Ward
I always read “Ask Rufus” on Sunday morning and have always enjoyed it, but yesterday’s article really hit home. To say Mr. Ward is a through, well-informed and articulate writer is an understatement.
Don’t get me wrong I feel that a flag is not a lethal weapon and as such has slain no man. I am and always will be a student of history with particular interest in Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest and am aware of many misinformed comments on his life and that he took particular care to reconcile with all parties after the war.
To hear that a movement is afoot to disinter him and his family is a tremendous shock since it has not to my knowledge been noted in The Dispatch.
I only ask that the editor of our hometown news allow Mr. Ward to continue writing his column and encourage him further in his endeavor to educate readers on our area in Mississippi history.
