Mentors in my life
In the past two weeks two of my mentors have gone to their heavenly reward. One was taken early at 72, the other at 93.
Brother Mickey Dalrymple pastor of my church led me by his wisdom, character and the life he lived. The age-old question is why do bad things happen to good people. Death in itself is not bad if you are ready. Bro. Mick was ready and accepted the fact that his work here was over. His influence will be felt for years to come. Good-bye Mick, see you soon.
Mr. Mack Egger, 93 left us after a long life. His impact was felt by many of his students including me. I was one that was not so affected by his teaching, as my thoughts were one other things at the time.
He tried to teach me and others, but I refused to learn.
His understanding and kindness was what I remember. More than 50 years after l graduated from ole Lee High, Mr. Egger brings a smile to my face when I think about him. The last time I saw him was at Bloomer’s. There was that smile and a kind word. Good-bye, Mr. Mack we will miss you and see you and the Mick soon.
