Kudos to a special group of Columbus Firefighters who prepared Brunswick stew for a non-profit, Lowndes County Council on Aging, (Dial-A-Bus and Home Delivered Meals). They chopped, seasoned, and stirred for hours to help senior citizens have rides to appointments, therapy, drug stores and such and for shut-ins to receive a hot meal delivered to their home, all free of charge.
Thanks to Chief Martin Andrews, who helped get the process started; Junior Lancaster, chief cook; Rick Graves and Johnny Fancher, both retired and Josh Westbrook, Chip Kain, Brent Younger and Kevin Brown.
Our fund-raiser was very successful and we so appreciate these men for going the extra mile to help seniors in our area.
We also are thankful for the support of businesses and community who helped in making this fund-raiser possible.
