Applauding the cleanup of corrupt officials
I applaud State Auditor Pickering and his attempts to clean up state government. I have long said that anyone convicted of any kind of fraud, especially if it involves a felony charge, should be permanently banned from public office. Anyone convicted while in office should be denied their public retirement from that office. This would especially apply to Legislators and Senators, and I would love to see it enacted at the national level. Criminals do not deserve taxpayer-funded retirement. Any public servant who will not vote for such a law probably has a reason to not support it! They should be voted out of office. Mr. Pickering, I wish you well in getting such legislation passed through our state legislature. Mississippi could lead the nation in getting this passed on a national level.
