West Lowndes parents, get involved
The LCSD (Lowndes County School District) held its board meeting at West Lowndes Elementary on Dec. 9, 2013m at 5:30 pm. There are many changes proposed regarding the Lowndes County Schools. One that concerns me the most are the changes that will occur at the West Lowndes Schools. Our children at West Lowndes Middle School will be moved to the High School.
This might not mean much to some of you, but this can be a major issue for some of the younger children. I am making this known because we had very few parents show up at West Lowndes Elementary meeting to protest these changes. Parents west of the river, you need to show more involvement concerning your children education. There were earlier meetings about Caledonia and New Hope and parents came out in record numbers to show support. I commended these parents for standing behind their children. Caledonia will be getting a new school and New Hope will be getting a new school and sewer lines.
Parent involvement has a huge effect on our children’s future. Because of our poor involvement, our kids will be push together by force. West Lowndes will no longer have a middle school. Other schools are expanding but West Lowndes is being condensed. Parents of West Lowndes, please show up in record numbers and support your child.
Your child’s future is in your hands. Their education is the being of their future, so please help support your child’s future. It’s a long drive to Caledonia but I will drive there each morning if I have to so I can protect my child from uncomfortable conditions.
Some of the members will meet again this Friday Dec. 13, 2013, but I think the damage has already been done. But God still knows how to show up.
