There has been a big hullabaloo in the news lately about the Secret Service agents and their liaisons with prostitutes in a foreign country. These people are supposed to be well-educated and intelligent, even before being educated.
Besides all of that, they presumably had, at the very least, a top-secret clearance, even possibly, a cryptographic clearance. History has shown that foreign countries, friends as well as the not-so-friendly, have used prostitutes to gain information from people in sensitive positions, military and civilian. Remember the Russian spies, one in particular just a few years ago? I am certainly not a scholar of the Bible, however, I found Joshua 2 quite interesting as it points to the fact that way back in Biblical times this method was used, not particularly to gain information, but certainly, to create havoc. Their instructors should have drilled this into them, all of the way up to “where the buck stops.”
As a side note, I was a B-52 tail gunner. I was discharged 50 years ago next month. All military members are debriefed prior to leaving military. One of the things I recall Sgt. Luther Goggans telling is, “son, your not to breathe a word about anything, particularly the B-52 until at least 12 years have passed.” He chuckled and said, “Of course, it won’t be flying then, anyway.”
