We are writing to voice our unconditional support for Joseph St. John, Police Chief of the City of Columbus!
We have known Joe ever since he was hired as Chief. Joe is a decent, fair, and honorable man, and we are honored to have him as a friend. He has also proven to be an excellent Chief of Police. He is professional, courteous, and knowledgeable.
We moved to Columbus from New Orleans, where even law-abiding citizens like ourselves have reason to fear the police. That is not the case in Columbus, thanks in large part to the efforts of Chief St. John. He has made the department and its officers more accessible and approachable, making it more likely that individuals (especially those who, in the past, may have distrusted the police) will come forward to report crimes.
Has Chief St. John made mistakes? Yes, and we think that he would be the first to admit that. However, you will not find a more dedicated, tireless public servant and ambassador for the City of Columbus. We are convinced of that.
The Columbus Police Department has made great strides during Joe St. John”s tenure here. Let”s not take a giant step backward by removing him as Chief, just because he has proven to be human.
Joseph St. John is a man of great integrity. Many of our public officials would do well to emulate him.
