For years now I have been urging locals down here to get informed about candidates, local to national, in my column in the Macon Beacon, but I don”t know how much good it”s done. I”ll keep plugging away at it, hoping that it takes root. It doesn”t matter which religion a voter prefers, Republican or Democrat, as long as the voters get informed before they vote. Democracy means mob rule in effect, but the definition is majority rule. This means everybody eligible votes so that the majority will rule. As far as I”m concerned, all local politics would be better off if candidates didn”t run on a party label, because we should vote for the person, not party or race.
Good idea to start a Saturday edition and drop the Monday paper. We may differ on a lot of things, but that is our right. We can”t both be right, and neither can one of us be right all of the time.
