COLUMBUS — Sue Willie McCarthy, 99, died Jan. 1, 2019. Services will be at 2 p.m. at Canaan M.B. Church with the Rev. Al Lathan officiating. Burial will be at Sandfield Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon-6 p.m. at Lee-Sykes Funeral Home. Lee-Sykes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. McCarthy was born sept. 16, 1919, in Cliftonville, to the late Marshall Luster and Annie Mitchell. She attended school in Prairie Point and formerly managed and operated Doc Amos Grocery. She was a member of Canaan M.B. Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband; daughters, Allierta Ketton, Annie W. Jones, Annie Laura Alexandra and Rosie Mae Mitchell; sons, Johnny Tate, Robert Lee Tate, Albert Tate Jr., Jimmy Lee McCarthy and Will C. Tate. She is survived by her sons, Walter Tate and CW Tate; brothers, Bernard O’neal, Theodore and John Lester; sister, Estella Luster; 27 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; and 56 great-great-grandchildren.
