James Sidney “Jimmy” Logan, age 71, of Purvis, MS, formerly of Caledonia, MS, passed away October 18, 2018, at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, MS. Funeral services were Monday, October 22, 2018, at 2:00 PM at Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home & Crematory, College St. location with Milton Harris officiating and Paul Glover assisting. The interment followed at Friendship Cemetery. Visitation was Monday, October 22, 2018, from noon until the time of the service at Memorial Gunter Peel Funeral Home & Crematory, College St. location. Memorial Guner Peel Funeral Home & Crematory, College St. location was in charge of arrangements. Mr. Logan was born June 24, 1947, in Columbus, MS, to the late Willis B. “Bernard” and Dona Hall Logan, Sr. He was the 9th of 10 children. Mr. Logan met his wife, Rae, when going to his sister Merlene Yarbrough’s Beauty Shop. They started dating and were married on March 22, 1979 and were married for over 39 years. Jimmy and Rae moved to Hattiesburg in 2001 and opened Purvis Jewelry and Gifts. In 2002, they were instrumental in starting the Hattiesburg Church of Christ with 8 members with membership now over 80. Jimmy retired in 2011 and enjoyed spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Albert Logan, Richard Logan and Merlene Yarbrough. Survivors include his wife, Rae Seifert Logan of Purvis, MS; children, Cathy Lynn Logan of Columbia, SC, Sharon Kaye Logan of Columbia, SC and Davis H. “Petie” Wingo and his wife, Kimberly, of Hattiesburg, MS; siblings, Edna “Dean” Young of Steens, MS, Elbert Logan and his wife, Virginia, of Steens, MS, Bobbie Winters and her husband, Arthur, of Caledonia, MS, Wayne Logan and his wife, Joyce, of Steens, MS, Willis Logan, Jr. and his wife, Tonyaa, of Steens, MS and Beverly Higdon of Dora, AL; and grandchildren, Taylor Loveday of Columbia, SC, Kelby James Wingo of Hattiesburg, MS and Warren Davis Wingo of Hattiesburg, MS. Pallbearers were Beau Seifert, Larry Green, Colby Logan, Jonathan Logan, Alan Jones, Ronnie Jones, Steve Yarbrough and Frankie Young. Honorary pallbearers were the men of the Hattiesburg Church of Christ, Guy Thompson, Jack Lang, Dr. David Curtis, Fred Hall, Danny Atkins, Mike Smith and the Caledonia High School Class of 1966.
