COLUMBUS — Rachel M. Latham, 87, died April 17, 2018, at her residence. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Mt. Zion MB Church of Columbus with the Rev. Jessie Slater officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery. Visitation will be today from noon-6 p.m. at Carter’s of Columbus. Mrs. Latham was born in Gordo, Alabama on July 7, 1930, to the late Luther Durrah and Lillie Durrah. She was formerly employed as a cafeteria worker for Columbus School System. She was a member of Mt. Zion MB Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Latham; and siblings, Emma Ruth Colvin, Peggy Walker, Marylene Wells, Joe Durrah, Trustee Durrah, Charles L. Durrah and Robert Earl. She is survived by children, Norman Latham, James Latam Jr., Thomas Latham, all of Columbus, LaForest Durrah of Mansfield, Ohio, Sammy Latham of Birmingham, Alabama and Yvette Dickerson of Montgomery, Alabama; siblings, Lucy Lewis of Columbus and Willie Durrah of Washington D.C. ; 18 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
