FOX LAKE, Ill. — Margret Schmidt Fields, 79, died April 5, 2018, at her residence. Graveside services were Thursday at Greenwood Cemetery. Mel Howton officiated the service. Visitation was Thursday at Calvert Funeral Home. Mrs. Fields was born in Duisburg-Hamborn, Germany on Jan. 18, 1939, to the late Johann and Anna Walburga Beckmann Schmidt. She was formerly employed as a senior cashier for the Army/Air Force exchange. She was a practicing Lutheran. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Murrel Fields; the father of her children, Jack Duwe; and son, Mike Duwe. She is survived by her daughter, Diane Landwer of Fox Lake, Illinois; stepsons, James Rex Fields and John Wesley Fields, both of Columbus; ten grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Tony Williams Jr., Tony Williams III, Bill Landwer and Summer Williams. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 8217, Jackson, MS 39215.
