DETROIT, Ala. — Cecil Humbers, 90, died Feb. 7, 2018, at Generations of Vernon Nursing Home in Vernon, Alabama. Services are at 3 p.m. today at Otts Funeral Home Chapel with Danny Millican officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Site Cemetery. Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Otts Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Humbers was born Nov. 28, 1927, in Monroe County, to the late Charlie “Thomas” and Sarah Myrtle Corbell Humbers. He was formerly employed in the logging and farming industry. He was a member of Life Church in Beaverton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Bell Ives Humbers; two infant children; and sisters, Evie Ives and Ida Capps. He is survived by his son, Roger Humbers of Sulligent; daughters, Peggy Murphy, Sarah Millican and Maxine Cantrell, all of Detroit, and Sandra Hawkins of Sulligent; sisters, Eloise Estell of Detroit and Ruby Murphy of Sulligent; eight grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Eric Cantrell, Zack Dodson, Justin Hughes, Richard Hughes and Kelly Prothro.
