Felix Mayfield Fancher Jr. age 70, died Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at North Mississippi Medical Center-Tupelo. Memorial services with U.S. Army Honors will be held Saturday, April 22, 2017, at 2:30 PM at Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Billy Ferguson officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Felix was born on Tuesday, January 28, 1947, in Columbus to the late Felix Mayfield Sr. and Christine Stone Fancher. He was a 1965 graduate of Lee High School and attended Freed-Hardeman University. In 1975, he received his bachelorís degree from Mississippi State University. He served in the U.S. Army from 1967 until 1971 in the Special Forces Unit. After graduation, he worked alongside his lifelong best friend, Danny Sprouse, at Sprouse Construction. Felix lived an unbelievable life. He was a gifted storyteller, and had the most amazing stories to tell. He was an avid hunter and was most at peace in the woods. Above all, he loved traveling to new places and spending time with family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his niece Angie Fancher. Survivors include: his wife of 44 years, Debbie Fancher, Columbus MS; daughters: Claire Robbins (Todd), Eielson AFB, AK, Alice Duett (Jeff), Southaven, MS; brother: Glyn Fancher (Maggie); cousins: Johnny Fancher (Sheri), Columbus, MS, Randy Jones, Columbus, MS; grandchildren: Taylor Ann Robbins, Chase Robbins, Anna Claire Duett. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: St. Judeís Childrenís Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38101.
