COLUMBUS — Ethel Marie Mitchell, 73, died Apr. 20, 2017, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-GT. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Tabernacle M.B. Church in Macon with Rev. Jarvis Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove M.B. Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12-6 p.m. Monday at Carter’s Funeral Services of Columbus. Carter’s Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Mitchell was born June 25, 1943, to the late Leroy and Marie Sykes. She was formerly employed as Manager of Tennessee Williams Welcome Center. She was a pianist, music teacher, and member of Tabernacle M.B. Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Earl Harris; two brothers; and one sister. She is survived by her husband, William Mitchell of Columbus; son, Michael Harris of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania; sister, Dorothy Johnson of Chicago, Illinois; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Pallbearers will be Pierre Hairston, Russell Taylor, David Jackson, Rev. Marcellus Nabors, Billy Kemp and Robert Stevens.
