ABERDEEN — Willie Douglas Hankins, 101, died Mar. 17, 2017, at Gulf Coast Health and Rehab in Mobile, Alabama. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Oddfellows Rest Cemetery in Aberdeen with David Harrell officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service times. Mr. Hankins was born Dec. 8, 1915, to Melvin Curtis Hankins and Delphia Spencer. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and served in WWII. He was retired from Tupelo High School Vocational Center where he taught Auto Body Repair and was a member of First Baptist Church of Aberdeen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sara Hood Hankins and sister, Olema Poss. He is survived by his daughters, Carol Wiggins and Barbara Dougherty, both of Mobile, Alabama; sister, Kathryn Crump of Aberdeen; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
