John Kemp, age 61, of Columbus, MS, passed away March 15, 2017, at Grandview Medical Center in Birmingham, AL. Funeral services will be Sunday, March 19, 2017, at 2:00 PM at Ebenezer Methodist Church of Fernbank, AL. The interment will immediately follow in Ebenezer Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be Saturday, March 18, 2017, from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home. Mr. Kemp was born May 14, 1955, in Flushing, NY, to the late J. O. and Nancy D’Abramo Kemp. He was a graduate of Millport High School and served in the United States Navy for several years. Mr. Kemp retired from Omnova Solutions after 28 years and was also a truck driver. He enjoyed coaching and being around children, especially little league baseball. Mr. Kemp was an avid Alabama football fan and enjoyed nascar, hunting, and fishing. Survivors include his wife, Gail Jordan Kemp of Columbus, MS, son, John Eric Kemp and his wife Carley of Columbus, MS, daughter, Ashley Kemp Glasgow and her husband Scott of Columbus, MS, brothers, Pete Kemp and his wife Kathy of Richmond, VA, and Mike Kemp and his wife Jeanie of Fernbank, AL, sisters, Nancy Jo McGee and her husband Truman of Millport, AL, Betty Ward of Northport, AL, Kathy Butts and her husband David of Ridgeland, MS, and Denise Kemp of Columbus, MS, and grandchildren, Brady Glasgow, John Thomas Glasgow, and Jack Glasgow. Pallbearers will be Joseph Fowler, Jake Fowler, Mike Butts, Mitch McGee, Josh Kemp, Braydon Butts, Landon McGee, and Mark Ward. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Jason Dunn, Dr. Robert Brock, and special CICU nurses, Lance Eiland, Jamie Legg, Ramona Carr, Melissa Mullen, Jeri Hensley, and Brian Haight.
