COLUMBUS — Jack Speed Sr., 80, died Jan. 7, 2017, at his residence. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Tabernacle United Methodist Church in Ethelsville, Alabama, with Roy McHenry and Jim Godwin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Lowndes Funeral Home. Mr. Speed was born Feb. 14, 1936, to the late John Luke Speed and Nolie Ann Porter Speed. He was previously employed in construction and farming. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers; and four sisters. He is survived by his wife, Paula Whaley Speed; son, Jack Speed Jr.; daughters, Debra Crimm and Tammie Parker; step-son, Anthony Whaley; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.
