A tanker trailer broke loose from its cab Sunday morning in the Columbus Wal-Mart parking lot before tipping over and spilling some of its contents.
Approximately 45,000 pounds of titanium dioxide slurry, which is not hazardous, had to be transferred to a new tanker from the overturned tanker. A portion of the parking lot was cordoned off as firefighters and workers spent more than nine hours cleaning the small amount of liquid which escaped, and transferring the remaining liquid.
The driver of the truck, who was uninjured, had recently secured the load at Tronox in Hamilton. He was making a turn into Wal-Mart when the tanker trailer detached from the cab and overturned.
