JACKSON – Republican Alan Nunnelee of Mississippi has been chosen to serve on the U.S. House Appropriations Committee when he takes office in January.
Nunnelee”s office says he”s one of three incoming freshman nominated for the powerful committee that decides how federal money is spent.
Nunnelee had been Appropriations chairman in the Mississippi Senate the past three years. He resigned from the state Senate in November after he unseated Democratic U.S. Rep. Travis Childers in north Mississippi”s 1st Congressional District.
Nunnelee said in a statement Friday that it”s time “to stop the out of control spending” in Washington.
