JACKSON – The head of the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency is urging residents to prepare for the threat of severe weather.
MEMA Director Mike Womack says in a news release that the National Weather Service has forecast possible flash flooding, high winds and tornadoes as a cold front pushes through the state late Monday and Tuesday.
Womack says because the system will move through after dark, residents should monitor weather broadcasts. He says if a tornado warning is issued, residents should seek shelter in a basement or the lowest level of a building. He says manufactured housing dwellers should seek shelter in a sturdier structure, and motorists shouldn”t try to outrun storms.
