Mississippi University for Women”s grounds and facilities will get some extra attention at the first Campus Day of Service hosted by the Town and Tower Club Friday.
Volunteers including students, faculty, staff and members of the Town and Tower Club will work together to help beautify campus from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Several projects have been identified including landscaping and maintenance of flower beds. Participants are asked to report to the Demonstration Field where members of the Town and Tower Club Steering Committee will place them at various sites on campus based on greatest need.
“The Town and Tower Club has been looking for a project to take on that would benefit MUW and the community,” said Mark Bean, club president, “The Day of Service is a good match for Town and Tower. We”re looking forward to it.”
MUW Interim President Allegra Brigham added, “All of us at MUW appreciate the assistance Town and Tower members will provide during this ”clean-up, fix-up” effort. We look forward to returning the favor as the community hosts ”Sweep Up Columbus” in the spring. This Day of Service is a wonderful way to strengthen our partnership with the community. This is a good way to build relationships between the university and the community. Working together we all achieve more.”
Door prizes will be given and refreshments will be provided throughout the day.
Town and Tower works to promote the mutual interests of Columbus and MUW.
