Seventh Street North was shut down for several hours Friday while Columbus Light and Water crews repaired a fire hydrant that was struck by an SUV Friday.
James Hudgins, 20, of 95 Suggs Road, was driving a green Ford Explorer southbound when he braked and swerved into the hydrant at about 2:30 p.m.
His 19-year-old passenger, Latricia Hollis, of 1610 Washington Ave., was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle for injuries to her head. A young child also in the car was uninjured.
