One man was taken to the hospital with what appear to be minor to moderate injuries following a shooting outside a convenience store north of Columbus Monday evening.
Deputies with Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about shots fired outside A.J.’s Grocery off Highway 373 at 5:15 p.m. LCSO Capt. Greg Wright said the victim became involved in an altercation in the parking lot outside the store and a suspect shot the vehicle he was in.
The victim suffered lacerations from glass when the window was shot and possibly a small graze from a gunshot, Wright said. He was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle.
Another man who was driving the vehicle that was shot at but was uninjured.
Wright said investigators had a “tentative identification” on a person of interest, but authorities did not have a suspect in custody by press time.
