A Columbus man is behind bars after allegedly soliciting a teenager to produce pornographic material.
Investigators with Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office arrested Jonquil Ball, 24, of 414 Idlewild Rd., on Tuesday. He is charged with one count of exploitation of a child to produce visual depiction of sexual conduct.
According to LCSO Lt. Tony Cooper, Ball was exchanging messages with a child between the ages of 14 and 18, asking her to provide sexually explicit photos and videos to sell online.
Cooper said the victim lives in Florida. Her family reported Ball to Florida authorities earlier this year and those investigators contacted LCSO in April.
At the time of his arrest, Ball was on probation from Mississippi Department of Corrections after pleading guilty in 2014 to sexual battery. His five-year sentence was suspended, and he was not required to register as a sex offender because he was 18 at the time he committed the crime, according to Lowndes County Circuit Court documents.
Ball is currently in custody at Lowndes County Adult Detention Center on a MDOC hold.
