Two people were hospitalized Sunday after a car chase with law enforcement ended in a wreck on Hickory Road in Oktibbeha County late Sunday morning.
Mississippi Highway Patrol is currently investigating the two-car wreck, which began when deputies with Clay County Sheriff’s Office started pursuing a suspect in a car theft, Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott said.
Jonathan Cosby, 28, of Haleyville, Alabama was driving a stolen 2004 Nissan passenger car and collided with a 2008 Chevrolet truck, according to a MHP press release.
The driver of the Chevrolet, Otis Robinson, 77, of Starkville, was transported to OCH Regional Medical Center of Starkvlle with moderate injuries, the press release said. Cosby was airlifted to University of Mississippi Medical Center of Jackson with serious injuries.
Scott said Cosby would likely face felony pursuit charges and added more charges from other agencies.
MHP spokesperson Criss Turnipseed did not comment whether Cosby would face further charges and said the accident is still under investigation.
