A Columbus woman died Sunday after being hit by a car on Highway 82 in Oktibbeha County.
Oktibbeha County Coroner Michael Hunt pronounced Deborah Moore, 47, dead at the scene of the accident, according to a Mississippi Highway Patrol press release. Moore was apparently in the east bound lane of the highway near Camps Airport Road at about 10:20 p.m. when a 2000 Explorer hit her.
The driver of the Explorer has been identified as Zachary Triplett, 31, of Starkville, the press release said. Triplett was not injured.
Master Sgt. Criss Turnipseed with MHP said Triplett is not facing charges.
MHP is investigating the accident.
