A man accused in a March kidnapping and robbery was arrested Wednesday after a fight with arresting narcotics officers.
An agent with the county and city’s combined Narcotics Task Force pulled over Lavenancho S. Fox, Jr., 19, of 1801 Third Ave. S., on College Street Wednesday, according to a Narcotics Task Force press release.
Fox, who had multiple warrants for his arrest, got out of the vehicle and began fighting with the officer, at one point hitting him in the face. He then ran away with multiple agents in pursuit, who caught the suspect on Third Avenue South.
Fox continued to resist arrest until agents secured him in the back of the vehicle, the press release said, and agents who searched Fox’s vehicle seized about 10 grams of crack cocaine, four grams of powder cocaine and 12 grams of marijuana.
Fox already had warrants on a robbery and kidnapping from March 2, according to a Columbus Police Department press release. Fox got into an argument with the victim somewhere in north Columbus before robbing him and forcing him into a car. The victim suffered non life-threatening injuries during the altercation.
Police are still investigating the particulars of the incident, including where the kidnapping occurred and how much time the victim spent in the car, the CPD press release said.
Fox has been charged with robbery and kidnapping by CPD and misdemeanor assault on an officer and multiple drug charges from the Narcotics Task Force. He is in custody on $60,000 bond for the CPD charges.
