The Budweiser Clydesdales will visit Columbus and Starkville next month, even making an appearance at Wings Over Columbus at the Columbus Air Force Base.
The famous eight-horse hitch, along with the red beer wagon, will deliver beer to six downtown Columbus restaurants on April 18, before spending an hour at Leadership Plaza for a public viewing from 6-7 p.m., according to a Budweiser press release. The next day, the Clydesdales will help kick off Super Bulldog Weekend in Starkville with a viewing downtown at 5 p.m. before they make deliveries to Cotton District restaurants at 6 p.m.
The Clydesdales will spend April 20 in Tupelo before returning to Columbus to make appearances at CAFB’s Wings Over Columbus event April 21-22. Times for those viewings will be released closer to the date.
Mitchell Distributing is partnering with Main Street Columbus, CAFB and the Greater Starkville Development Partnership for the events.
Budweiser first introduced the Clydesdales hitch as its symbol in 1933 following the repeal of Prohibition, according to the company website. The horses have appeared worldwide at parades and other events, on Super Bowl commercials and television broadcasts and at presidential inaugurations.
