A building that is home to a well-known Columbus restaurant is now for sale.
Wings, Fish and More, which is located at 217 Alabama St., is being listed by Crye-Leike Properties Unlimited.
Before Wings, Fish and More opened in 2014, the building was home to a few other well-known restaurants.
When The Gateway Shopping Center first opened, Lum’s, a chain restaurant famous for hot dogs steamed in beer, operated in the building. Then, in the 80s, Buck and Helen’s opened — which was known for their greasy hamburgers and meringue pies. Potter’s was also there for years until Wings, Fish and More opened.
Despite the building being for sale, a restaurant employee said the doors are not closing just yet. Wings, Fish and More will still operate during normal business hours until the building sells.
The restaurant is open Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Moving to Starkville, the Walmart Vision Clinic has reopened. The clinic will now operate as Taylor Vision Clinic LLC.
Dr. Lana Turner is the optometrist. She comes to Starkville from Water Valley.
The clinic temporarily closed in mid-January following the shooting death of previous clinic optometrist Dr. Shauna Whitt.
Operating hours are Monday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday noon to 5 p.m.
Also on the health care front, a new dentist’s office has opened.
People’s Dental, located at 1016 Louisville St., Suite G, in the SouthPark Plaza Center.
People’s Dental says they are a dentistry group serving the Starkville community, as well as others in surrounding areas who do not have local access to a Medicaid or in-network dental provider.
Currently, the dental group is in-network with more than 30 insurance providers.
To schedule an appointment, call 662-338-0700 or stop by the office Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Lastly, Gumtree Mortgage opened a branch in Starkville.
The company is currently located in The Mill at Mississippi State University on Russell Street and is operated by Branch Manager Rachael Potts.
Gumtree also has locations in Tupelo, Oxford, New Albany and one in Charlotte, North Carolina.
To contact Potts with any questions, or to start the application process email [email protected] or call 662-823-3905.
