A Starkville man was arrested Tuesday for allegedly having sex with a 13-year-old, according to court documents.
Starkville police arrested 18-year-old Jaquan Owens on suspicion of statutory rape, enticement of a child to produce visual depictions of sexual conduct, enticement of a child to meet for sexual purposes and dissemination of sexually oriented materials to a person who is younger than 18 years old.
The incidents, according the press release, happened on Monday.
According to a court affidavit, Owens had sex with the victim, who is 13 years old. It’s currently unclear where the incident occurred.
If convicted of statutory rape, Owens could face 20 years to life in prison.
Owens was booked into the Oktibbeha County Jail on $25,000 bond. He had not bonded out as of Wednesday afternoon, according to jail personnel.
