A pedestrian was struck and killed by a motorist Monday evening on Lee-Stokes Road near New Hope, according to Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant.
Merchant said the pedestrian, who he described as a white male in his 30s, was hit by a vehicle on Lee-Stokes Road near the Highway 82 overpass at about 7:30 p.m. The driver stopped and called 911, but the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
Merchant said no arrest was made and the death is considered accidental.
The man’s identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin, Merchant said.
