A grand opening was held Tuesday for Blue 22 Soul Kitchen and Bar.
Blue 22 was originally opened as Beef ‘O’ Brady’s by Donald Lee and Lamar Ware in 2014. The pair started the restaurant with intentions that it would be “a restaurant for the community, not just another restaurant in the community.” Three years later, in pursuit of this same community satisfaction, the restaurant has removed itself from the Beef ‘O’ Brady’s franchise to bring home-cooked flavors onto its new menu.
While the restaurant’s location remains at 1275 Stark Road, hours have been changed to 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. and 4:30-11 p.m. Monday-Friday, 11 a.m.-1 a.m. Saturdays and 11 a.m.-10:30 p.m. Sundays. Weekday blue plate specials are offered from 10:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
Also in Starkville, five months of construction and preparation have led up to Jamie Parkerson of J. Parkerson Jewelers announcing his new jewelry store will open Sept. 1.
Parkerson is a gemologist who was employed with the Jeweler’s Bench until it closed earlier this year. The new store will offer engraving, appraisal and watch battery replacement services, alongside the standard jewelry sale and repair.
J. Parkerson Jewelers will be located in the College Park Shopping Center at 100 Russell St., Suite 7
Caledonia will gain a new business in September with Silk and Willow Floral Design Studio.
Silk and Willow is a unique floral design studio that specializes in silk flower arrangements and gifts. Beyond handcrafted floral arrangements and popular brand-name gift lines, owner Jennifer Tilley has a special vision for the store.
Tilley is a Caledonia native who previously operated Jennifer’s Flowers and Gifts, until she moved away about five years ago. Returning to Caledonia, Tilley aims to expand her services and bring light to other local talent with the products of other area businesses. Already, Tilley has furniture from Holmestead Furbishings of Caledonia and pottery from Sassy Pants Pottery of Hamilton lined up for display in her store.
Leading up to the grand opening on Sept. 16, Silk and Willow is doing weekly giveaways on its Facebook page. The store is located at 771 Main Street.
