The Noxubee County Sheriff’s Department has arrested a Noxubee County man for the shooting death of his girlfriend and shooting her child early Tuesday morning.
Marcus Gardner, 22, was arrested for fatally shooting his girlfriend who has been identified as Kelsey Pace, 21, according to the Noxubee County Sheriff Tony Grassaree.
Grassaree said Gardner was arrested without incident shortly before noon and will make his initial court appearance Wednesday.
The sheriff’s department responded to a call to a Cockrell Quarters Road home in Brooksville at about 6 a.m. Tuesday.
“A neighbor who was a relative called in and when we got to the scene we found a woman who deceased and a child who had been shot but was still alive,” Grassaree said.
Grassaree said his believes the shooting happened around 2 a.m. Tuesday.
“We are still processing the crime scene,” Grassaree said, “so we really haven’t pieced together exactly what happened.”
Gardner is expected to make his initial court appearance today.
