The suspect in the shooting death of a Monroe County man Tuesday was formally arraigned for murder on Wednesday.
William Key, Jr., 45, is accused in the shooting death of his neighbor Jared Smith, 35, said Monroe County Sheriff Cecil Cantrell.
The shooting happened just before 9:30 a.m., when deputies with the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office received a call to Bethlehem Road and found Smith’s body in a ditch. Key was arrested at the scene.
Cantrell said the two men were neighbors who apparently had an ongoing feud.
“(Tuesday) it just turned to bloodshed,” he said.
Key’s bond was set at $100,000. He remains in custody in the Monroe County Jail.
