Two suspects in separate violent crimes have been returned to Columbus from other counties.
Authorities in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, recently took Gevartise Taran Armstead, 22, into custody and found that Columbus Police Department had a warrant out for him for aggravated assault. Armstead allegedly shot a 25-year-old man on Bell Avenue in late January of this year.
CPD investigators extradited Armstead back to Mississippi Monday.
Also on Monday, CPD investigators extradited Javan Lamarc King, 20, from Hinds County, Mississippi. King allegedly robbed an employee at Bullets on North Lehmberg Road last August. Police in Jackson picked up King on misdemeanor charges and learned he was wanted for armed robbery.
Armstead’s bond has been set at $300,000 and King’s at $100,000. Both are in custody at the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center.
