Construction on the Holiday Inn Express & Suites located at 2000 Sixth St. N. is wrapping up with plans to open in June.
Preceding this opening, the inn’s general manager, Dave Mastroni, has announced an upcoming job fair to fill the building’s vacant halls. The fair will be held from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. April 18-19 in Whitfield Lobby at Mississippi University for Women. The positions to be filled include sales management, guest services, housekeeping staff and maintenance.
Mastroni plans to employ a combined 20 part-time and full-time team members.
The hotel’s floor plan includes a total of 85 suites over 56,017 square feet, with the first floor covering 14,086 feet.
In New Hope, Soul Fish Grill is a relatively new, family-owned and run, soul food restaurant that opened on Dec. 15, 2016.
The restaurant offers such treats as fish, pasta, chicken and an assortment of vegetables including fried green tomatoes. It seats about 35 people.
The eatery, located at 3722 Hwy. 69, is open from 11 a.m.-8:30 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays, and 11 a.m.-3 p.m. and 5-9:30 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
On Oct. 6, 2016, plans were presented for a new Dairy Queen to be constructed at the corner of Louisville Street and Lynn Lane. Since then, work has progressed on the new building to the point that representatives with Dairy Queen have announced May 6 as the restaurant’s opening date.
The new restaurant is expected to bring about 60 jobs to the area. This is the only Dairy Queen in the Golden Triangle, with the nearest Mississippi restaurant in Tupelo.
