Columbus Police Department is seeking a suspect in the Monday evening armed robbery of a Columbus convenience store.
CPD Assistant Chief Fred Shelton said a lone, black male entered the B-Quik located a 635 31st Ave. N., at approximately 8:10 p.m. The suspect, armed with a handgun, demanded money from the store owner, who was the only other person in the store at the time of the incident. Shelton said the owner complied, and the suspect fled on foot in the direction of Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle with an undisclosed amount of money.
The store owner told police the man was wearing a blue jacket and a red hat. Police are reviewing video surveillance footage from the store but have no suspects.
A $5,000 reward under the city’s new reward program is offered to anyone who has information leading to the arrest and conviction in this case. The reward program hotline number is 877-273-4552.
It marks the second time in less than a year the B-Quik has been the victim of an armed robbery. On Jan. 18, 2016, CPD responded to an armed robbery call when a store clerk told officers a man in a mask had robbed the store of some cash and fled the scene on foot, running behind the building.
CPD Public Information Officer Joe Dillon said no arrest has been made in that case, either.
